The history of the Order of the Collar of Saint Agatha....
The origin of the Militare Ordine di Collare di Sant’Agata dei Paternò can be traced back to 23rd January 1289. The entity was set up by King Alfonso III of Aragon. It was a knightly association meant for defending Minorca. As the knights were required to stay in the Fortress of Saint Agatha they got linked with the legend of the Saint with time.
