By: benny

If you're searching for someone to help you find someone and you're willing to pay a little money, there are a lot of options for you to choose from. You can try the “free” sources if you'd like, but they are not always reliable and often are just a trap to convince you that they do have the information you need, but require that you pay them to get it.

Most people, when thinking about finding someone, immediately think of famous sleuths or private eyes. There is a reason for that. Private detectives are the most reliable way to get real information about someone you're searching for. They are also probably your most expensive option as well. Remember that you get what you pay for.

Make sure you know who you're hiring and what their reputation is before you hire them, though. You can do this easily enough by going to a pro ratings site or by hiring through a local, reputable proxy. Using a customer-rating service, like rateitall.com, is a good start. You might also want to check the local Better Business Bureau for the area the detective operates in. If you have a reputable, local proxy you can trust in your area who can recommend someone reliable outside of your area, that is another great option to use.

Another route to take when searching for someone to help you sleuth people is to hire an online service that specializes in this. The highest-rated of these seem to be NetDetective.com and PeopleSearch.net. Alternatively, if the person you're searching for is an old school chum or high school friend, you can try classmates.com or reunion.com and see if you're old friend is registered there—that is not unusual either. The rates these sites charge are reasonable and the search they perform usually has reliable results. For an added fee, the first two sites listed with also do a full “skip trace” on the person, which means that a detective will personally double-check the information found and verify that it is truly who you're searching for.

Wherever you decide to go to get help making your search, finding someone is usually easier than you'd think and will probably cost you a lot less than you expected.
