It would also do no harm to invest in a decent hosepipe and not one that is prone to cracking or kinking so if you are away for a while you can rely on the coverage your garden gets and not have the hose kink and cut off the supply.

It is also advisable to hook up a timer between your faucet and your hose. You simply set up the timer and it will shut off the sprinkler automatically after the set amount of time has elapsed. In an age of energy conservation then this will cut out any excess usage and will also allow you to water your lawn even when you are on vacation for example.

Once you have everything set up properly, you will want to monitor the response of your lawn and adjust the water application accordingly.
