Water Sprinklers - Basic Tips

By: Dazza Walker

You know that watering your lawn is an important part of lawn care but you have limited time to do it. Thats where a good water sprinkler can greatly help your lawn and not take up your time.

Today, water sprinklers are well stocked and most nurseries and good hardware stores so your only problem is the design you need. These designs will cater for your garden in terms of shape and the amount of water your lawn needs.

After you purchase your portable sprinkler, you will want to do a test to see how it performs. Most importantly you will want to know exactly what area it covers so you can cover you garden as efficently as possible without any of the lawn being neglected and dying away.

If your garden is on a slope then you may need to adjust the water distribution where one part of your garden is getting drenched while another part is getting only enough to do it and no more. It would also do no harm to invest in a decent hosepipe and not one that is prone to cracking or kinking so if you are away for a while you can rely on the coverage your garden gets and not have the hose kink and cut off the supply.

It is also advisable to hook up a timer between your faucet and your hose. You simply set up the timer and it will shut off the sprinkler automatically after the set amount of time has elapsed. In an age of energy conservation then this will cut out any excess usage and will also allow you to water your lawn even when you are on vacation for example.

Once you have everything set up properly, you will want to monitor the response of your lawn and adjust the water application accordingly.
