Top UK City Breaks

In times of an economic down turn breaks abroad are getting too expensive for many people, especially with the weakness of the pound. But you need not worry as the UK has many great city break destination to help you beat the crunch while still having fun.

Liverpool
The city may no longer be the official capital of culture for Europe anymore but there is till so much going for this city. Liverpool has certainly put the less then favourable stereotype to bed after years and millions of pounds of regeneration. The city is now a modern and cosmopolitan with a life and style to rival any city on the continent.

Manchester
After the terrible bombing of the city centre by the IRA in 1996 Manchester has undergone millions of pounds of rebuilding. 2002 Commonwealth Games saw even more investment to make Manchester a thoroughly modern place. The city has so much to offer for anyone who is looking for a fantastic weekend getaway.

Bath
The only World Heritage City in England, Bath is like a living museum with a wealth or architecture that would be the envy of any city in the world. The most famous attraction is of course the Roman Baths, one of the finest remains of the Roman Empire found outside of Italy. Out side of the baths though can be found street after street of Georgian buildings which will make you feel you have traveled back in time.

Cardiff
Cardiff is most defiantly a city on the up. The redevelopment of the Bay area is a sign that Cardiff is quickly becoming a modern and sophisticated city. The city is great for a spot of shopping and taking it easy on a sunny day lazing by the Taff in Bute Park.

Belfast
The city has changed so much over recent years. Belfast is quickly establishing itself as a top destination for nights out that can rival the likes of Manchester and Liverpool. With regular flights from many regional airports Belfast reputation as a top city break destination is on the rise.

Oxford
The city of dreaming spires is not just a city for the academic elite. Oxford is a trendy city with many great bars and restaurants to ensure you have a great night out. Of course by day you have the beautiful sights of the city which can boast some truly spectacular architecture which can be viewed on a leisurely punt along the river, just like in Venice.

Leeds
Leeds has adopted a great relaxed atmosphere which helps you loose all the tension from your working life. The city also has many great shops, bars and restaurants which can only help make for a relaxing and refreshing break away.

London
London has long been one of the very best city breaks in the world. It has a life and charm all of its own that will draw you in and make it very difficult to leave. There is so many things to see and do it’s almost impossible to be in the capital and have nothing to do, unless that’s all you want. Once you have taken your first city break in London it islikely you will be taking another and another.
