Things to See and do in Bath

Bath is a unique and beautiful city located in the picturesque county of Somerset. Bath is well known for its varied and attractive architecture, university and its Roman influences, all this set in rolling hills and refreshing countryside. Bath was rewarded for its attractions and beauty by being granted world heritage status in 1987.

One of Bath’s main attractions is the Roman Baths which is a renowned tourist attraction throughout the world. Britain’s only hot spring attraction which is surrounded by a wonderful temple built by the Roman’s during their occupation of England. The Roman Baths are suitable for adults and children of all ages and cannot fail to be in awe of the ancient relics and architecture which have been fantastically persevered throughout the centuries for all to see today.

A visit to Bath is incomplete without visiting some of the amazing architectural sites and historic museums. The Royal Crescent and in particular Number One Royal crescent is an 18th century townhouse painstakingly restored to give visitors a unique insight into life in that period. The Building of Bath Museum is another attraction which shows visitors of Bath how the city was shaped and designed all those years ago, a must see for Georgian and general architecture fans. The oldest house in Bath is Sally Lun’s Refreshment House which was built in 1483, the building now is a shrine to the original building and also incorporates a museum, and the site is famous throughout Bath for the Sally Lun Bun.

Not only is Bath a fantastic centre for famous attractions, but visitors can also enjoy a relaxing break with walking and hiking activities set in magnificent landscapes and beautiful countryside air. There are many hotels and B&B’s around the city which will cater for every visitor’s need. All of these attractions and activities make Bath the perfect getaway for people of all ages and interests.
