If you decide to go to Yorkshire for the holidays, or really for any time of year, there is a lot to see there, and you can experience some wonderful things to do. Unfortunately, you might not have given a lot of thought to the Yorkshire area or planned to go there, but if you don't go and explore it, you're definitely missing out. There is much more to see there than you would think. Yorkshire is the largest of the English counties, and there's so many different things to experience there that it becomes difficult to make generalizations about what kind of place it really is. It's very conscious of the Viking heritage that it has, however, and that's one of the most significant things that people come there for. The York Minster draws a lot of people, as does the Jorvik Viking Centre. After you've marveled at the beauty of these attractions and studied the stained glass and the breathtaking architecture of the Minster as well as the heritage of the Viking Centre there is still more to see. Don't limit yourself to the City of York. Instead, go out into the countryside and explore what it has to offer, as well. There are two national parks there – North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales – and both of these have walking trails and a lot of natural beauty that you can enjoy. There are caves and waterfalls there, as well, which isn't something that really comes to mind when people think of Yorkshire. Whether you live nearby or are visiting for the first time, stop and really take a look at all that Yorkshire has to offer. You'll be glad that you took the time to see one of the most beautiful areas of the country and what it has to offer.
