The importance of Cables and Wires

By: Joe Shapiro

Imagine if everything worked like a miracle. How good it would be if all our household items like the refrigerator, the television, the computer, the washing machine or the microwave, etc, worked solely at our mere touch. Sounds good, but unfortunately, miracles don’t take place on a daily basis. That’s why they are called miracles. For running these items we need power which we don’t have. As such we need electricity to run them. And for this purpose, the conductors of electricity, i.e. the wires and cables are of utmost importance.

Cables and wires are inevitable components in our day to day life, be it a household or a corporate entity. Corporates have a larger demand for cables and wiring than the households as many machines as well as the industrial premises need an efficient installation of industrial cables and commercial cables.

Cables are good conductors of electric current that are enclosed in insulating material. Their main function is to connect different components in a system. Cables are used in almost every activity that we do. Different manufacturers are designing different types of cables that can be used for different purposes and which are available in the market.

Various types of cables like high voltage electric cables that are mil spec wires, fiber optic cables, data cable, network cables, etc. are used in today’s times. Cables that are mainly used for commercial purposes and activities are commercial wires and coaxial cables. Also there are cables that are used for aviation purpose like aerospace data cables which are of great importance in facilitating the smooth flying of the aeroplanes.

The use of mil spec wires and aerospace data cables has transformed the processes of transferring information and or people from one source or place to another as also the functioning of the industrial setup and avionics applications. Things are becoming faster and with the introduction of new technologies, nothing has remained impossible.

Previously, the use of cables was limited only up to the distribution of electricity, but now every sphere of human activity involves their use. Aerospace data cables have made it possible to fly and reach out to people, indirectly helping many who are separated by distance. Cables have helped shrink the world to a small global village.

As the industrial and commercial activity is expanding its horizons in all directions that encompass the human boundaries, the demand for commercial cables is increasing every year. The market is swamped with dealers and manufacturers manufacturing and selling coaxial cables and mil spec wires for multipurpose.

Although the market for wireless technology is equally spreading itself far and wide, and although it has put up a strong competition against the wires and cables, yet it is possible for both to accommodate in the market as parallels. People have an inclination towards using both of them, but as of now, it is evident that most of the commercial activities, although not the households, rely heavily upon the use of commercial wires and commercial cables in their setup. As such wires and cables would continue to be in use in the near future too.
