Term Life Insurance - The Solution For Those On A Budget

By: David Livingston

You are too young to be bothered about things like life insurance plans! You have a full-time job, a family to take care of and very little time to spare for such luxuries! Yes, life insurance policy is a luxury you cannot afford! You know you are not going to die now, you are going to buy one soon, but not right now... may be few years later when you have another increment or you manage to earn more... If such is your attitude, you are in for trouble. First, you will never have any cash to spare. As your income rises, so will your expenses. As for not dying so soon... who can tell? Any body can drop dead any time! What will happen if you do? Who will look after your loving wife and beautiful children? It is true that nobody can take your place, but the death benefit will see that they have a less harrowing time!We should dwell as much as possible in the present. That does not mean that we should neglect the past and the future. We should learn from past and try to secure our future as much as possible. That is why the ancient Chinese started insuring their goods in 5000 B.C or the Romans formed the burial club in 600 B.C. To day, we have different types of insurance policies that cover the different aspect of our lives. However, we buy life insurance plans to secure the future of our family. The benefits from such plans see that our loved ones do not face any financial difficulties in case we die a premature death. Buy an affordable term life insurance policy if you do not have enough money to buy the more expensive whole life or universal life insurance policies.

Look for cheap term life insurance quotes. You can do that on line. If you are sincere, you will definitely find one that will fit into your monthly budget very easily. Receive quotes from not one, but many carriers, so that you can compare and choose. If you care to learn more, you will find that term life is the original form of life insurance that provides nothing but death benefit. It has no cash value. You buy such a plan for a stipulated period that may range from one year to thirty years. If you die within that term, your beneficiaries get the benefit. If you survive the term, you do not get anything. If you are still young and healthy, term life insurance is the cheapest means by which you can offer protection to your family. It provides adequate coverage at quite a low rate. However, do not concentrate solely on price of the policy; see what it offers as well.

Of course, there are other types of policies as well. Since those plans provide investment options as well, they have higher premiums, so it seems at least initially. Buy them if you are sure you can pay the premiums regularly because death benefits are paid on regular payment of premiums only. If you surrender the policy midway, you can still get back your money, but will lose your life coverage. In such cases, it is better to buy affordable term life insurance and invest the difference wisely in any other saving scheme. Following are some of the salient features of term life insurance. Study them carefully, so that whatever choice you make is an informed choice:
1. Term life is a pure form of life insurance and provides for nothing but death benefit. Unlike the whole or universal life, such policies do not have any cash value.
2. Such a policy will cover your financial obligations, such as funeral cost, dependent care, collage education for the children, mortgages, consumer loans etc.
3. You buy term life for a fixed period, ranging from one to thirty years.
4. The premiums are fixed for that period only.
5. If you die within that term, your beneficiaries will get the face value of the policy as death benefit.
6. If you survive the policy, the policy will automatically lapse and you will not get anything.
7. You then have the option of renewing the coverage at a higher rate.
8. Unless you have some compulsory renewal policy included in your contract, you will have to give proof of insurability at that time.
9. The insurer may refuse to insure you if you become terminally ill in the mean time.
Indeed, this really is the best solution for those of us who can't exactly afford a full-time life insurance policy at the moment. For the other benefits you stand to gain from a term life insurance policy, it would depend on the insurance companies you sign up with, so look around and do your research for the one you like best before settling on one.
