While sitting down to study, is it possible to transfer the massive amount of info from the notes and books in front of you to a trustworthy place inside your head? A good way to ease that type of "file transfer" is developing good study habits. It will take a great deal of aware effort to alter your studying ways, but it will become the second nature, and education will be much easier to do. 1. Manage your time. You can make a weekly plan and devote some amount of time to studying. This amount will differ depending upon whether you are in college or high school, and vary by area of study. a) Study in 30 minute chunks. This takes some time for brain to make new long-term memories, thus you cannot stay studying flat out. You should take 5-10 minute breaks to do something physically energetic to get blood flowing plus make you much more alert. b) Make enough time in the schedule to sleep enough. Think about it this way: When you sleep just 4-5 hours, you will probably have to double the study time to be as successful as if you would gotten eight hours of sleep. Get a good sleep each night and you will make the best of the study time. 2. Find a great study place. You need to feel comfortable, still not so comfortable you can fall asleep--a bed is not a good study place when yo are tired! The spot where you can study should be quiet (traffic outside the window as well as quiet library conversations are good, but interrupting music blasting and siblings in the neighbouring room are not).
