Nasal Strips For many people snoring is caused by a slight constriction of the airways, opening these airways up could reduce or eliminate snoring. Nasal strips work by physically opening the nostrils wider in order to create larger nasal passages and hopefully reducing the constriction and allowing air to move more freely. The advantages are that the strips are much less intrusive that other aids available while the strips themselves are relatively cheap to buy. Chin Straps For some people snoring is caused by breathing through the mouth rather than your nose. Chin straps try to eliminate this by keeping your mouth closed making you breathe naturally through your nose, thus reducing or eliminating your snore. Like the nasal strips they are less intrusive than other products and are each to apply. Gum Shield The constriction of the airways at the back of the throat is a highly common cause of snoring. With the airway reduced air is being squeezed through it and causes the soft tissue of the throat to vibrate creating the snoring sound. The gum shields work by moving the lower jaw slightly forward to create a wide passage way for the air to move freely through. They also often leave the mouth slightly open to allow air to move freely in and out of the mouth. The advantages are that is tries to solve the route of many peoples snore problem, that of a constriction at the back of the throat. It may also work out more cost affective in the long run as you should only need to buy one. Tennis Balls Some people find that laying on there back while asleep while cause them to snore. This is probably caused by the body putting pressure to the airways and restricting them. Some people find that simply laying on there side will relieve the pressure and allow them to have a snore less night. However for some remaining on there side all night proves tricky so some have come up with a home made solution of sowing a tennis ball in to the back of your pajamas. The tennis ball will then stop you from turning onto your back and keep you on your side all night long.
