SEO and Back-Linking Basics

By: ivan

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Back-Linking are both mediums used extensively over the internet by web masters and site owners to divert traffic to their site, increasing their revenue.

Understanding the basics of SEO and back-linking are essential if you want your business/website to thrive in this competitive environment. Survival of the fittest has never held more, true for business when there are millions of websites popping up everyday to share your traffic.

We will discuss the basics of SEO and Back linking for you to get an understanding of what you are expected to do.

Hyperlinks:

The easiest way you might think of is to write articles over the internet and your website giving out a bunch of hyperlinks pointing to your site. This usually does not work because of the unworkable design aesthetics of a page full of hyperlinks, plus everyone is now savvy enough to realize they are being pushed and not asked, which, is not the best thing for business.
Another problem with placing too many keyword hyperlinks on webpages can get the site/web master and some of its clients banned from major search engines because of their aggressiveness.

The SEO Way:

It’s the intelligent way of using your keyword and article writing powers to move traffic to your site. What SEO basically does is manipulate search engine algorithms by using certain keywords in their contents over and over to increase the PR (Page Ranking) of their site on search engines.

All you have to do is write content that targets a certain subject your site represents and filling you site with innovative and seamless ways with such articles rich in the target keywords. When a user enters that very keyword in the search engine e.g. fitness and your site contains fifty instances of that keyword in articles you site will how p higher in the search engine results compared with a site using the keyword just twenty times.

One thing you have to keep in mind is not to break the flow of your articles or content, just to add the keywords more and more. This can be very annoying to the users who end up on your site. Making all your SEO marketing efforts fruitless as, the visitors have no intention of coming back.

The Back-Linking Alley:

Another effective way of diverging traffic to your site is through back-linking. What you do is leave comments on forums, blogs or articles with similar subjects to your web-content. When leaving the comment on most sites you are prompted to leave a URL as well as your email, leaving your URL in this way is not annoying and garners traffic not only from the forum/ blog/ article author but others who read the comment.

There is an added bonus to this too when someone types in the keywords to your site content in a search engine it is more likely that the blog or forum with many more entries with the same keyword will have a higher PR (Page ranking) on the search engine. If that is the case, the link to your site will be available to the users of the search engine.

With this basic understanding of SEO and back-linking go forth and market your website wisely.
