Diverticulitis is a condition in which diverticula are perforated, infected and inflamed. Diverticula are pea or grape sized protrusions in the intestinal wall. What causes this disease, like most others, is unknown. However, it is known that smoking, a poor diet and stress worsen symptoms. It is a condition that often goes undetected for many years, as most people pass the symptoms off as indigestion. It usually develops somewhere between the ages of fifty and eighty, after our body has been bombarded and weakened by toxins almost our whole lives. It is also important to note that once diverticula develop, they do not go away, nor do they cause problems by themselves. It is once they get infected or inflamed by something we have contributed, that we feel the symptoms such as fever, severe pain, nausea and chills. The good news is that there are things you can do to treat and prevent further memory loss. One of those things is reflexology treatment. Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure in a strategic manner to reflexes of the feet and hands, and even the face and ears. By stimulating nerves on specific areas of the feet and hands, we can stimulate blood flow, enhance circulation and eliminate toxin buildup in the corresponding areas of the body. Furthermore, reflexology stimulates the lymphatic system and encourages the release of endorphins, the natural feel good hormones that are well documented in relieving the effects of stress. The American Medical Association has stated that a full eighty five percent of all illness is a result of stress, illustrating exactly how effective reflexology can be when it comes to helping the body to deal with problems that it may be having. Reflexologists contend that by fully relaxing the body through reflexology, it will be much more likely to be able to heal itself on its own. Without a doubt, reflexology has been shown to be immensely useful when it comes to treating pain. A study that was conducted by the American Cancer Society Journal in 1998 showed that a full one out of three cancer patients turn to reflexology in order to relieve the pain that they are experiencing. There are many different types of symptoms that reflexology can help with, and a study conducted in China in 1998 showed that of 20,000 documented cases of patients using reflexology to treat certain symptoms, a full fifty percent found success. Read your labels, avoid refined sugars and keep in mind that processed foods are one of the biggest sources for the toxin build up in our systems; the very toxins that reflexology strives to rid the body of. Outside of a whole foods diet, make sure to drink plenty of water, cut down, or better yet eliminate caffeine, eat a well-balanced diet, exercise and get adequate rest. Keep yourself mentally active by using your brain on a daily basis. Pursue activities such as crossword puzzles, reading, or even surfing the Internet. Reflexology will help take care of the rest!
