If you are a jogger, you might train before ever going out to compete against others. If you were a person who swims, you might swim hundreds of thousands of laps before competing another swimmer. But the same is usually not true for most people who play golf. For golfers, practice usually doesn't take place. Duffers may go hit a few balls before a round, but is about it. The best practice for golf improvement is not done out on the fairways, and it isn't always done on the driving range either. This crazy game may seem like an easy sport, but it involves many parts of physical fitness. One's aerobic level is vital because the amount of time on your feet that occurs over a few hours. The average course is almost four miles long, and a round of golf means a lot of mileage on the feet. Strength is also vital because of the many times you will swing your irons and driver during even one round. Even if you are hitting 80 or less, you are still swinging that club a lot of times in a round. You need a lot of power to swing without wincing or failing in the swing. All Golf training really ought begin in the gym. Improve your aerobic capacity and overall strength and you will witness an incredible improvement in your game.
