May has been a magical month for "Danny the Dragon," (http://DannyTheDragon.com) as well as author, Tina Turbin! This month she has Danny the Dragon CD off to production, continues to work on Danny the Cookbook, is coordinating book exhibits globally and toured the East Coast on a phenomenal book tour. Danny the Dragon has been entered in the Moonbeam Children's Book Award 2009 for placement in the top three, in its own category as well as in seven other prestigious contests. Besides book signing engagements, her book tour also included reading to children at nearby hospitals, schools and libraries who all welcomed her with open arms. She sat with the children at the Shriners Hospital reading to the kids and creating a combined-effort's book which they entitled, "Danny and Friends." Many of the children were there from all over the world for either prosthetics or operations. While listening to the adventures of Danny the Dragon and his side-kick, Skipper, the inquisitive children were attentive, to say the least. Tina also read "Danny the Dragon" at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The kids thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Danny's delightful acts of kindness while Skipper takes notes for future adventures. After the reading a taped interview was given with an employee who has worked at the hospital for 23 years. The taped interview will be released online soon. While visiting the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf there were two ladies in the group performing sign language for all the kids while Tina was reading aloud. Most of the kids were either deaf, from families of deaf parents or had deaf siblings. The children were delighted with Tina's playful charm as she sparked grins from ear to ear and created wide-eyed interest. The words of "Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy" danced from her lips giving life to those magical characters, depicted by an award-winning illustrator. Children will also soon be able to enjoy "Danny the Dragon" CD (title soon to be released), which is in to Los Angeles for some engineering! There were numerous music submissions by talented and famous musicians from all over the world. The responses were overwhelming. All profits will go to a charitable organization of Tina's choice. "Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy" has been in multiple book exhibits throughout the world. In May, you might have heard about a couple of them: Florida Library Association and Book Expo America. Book Expo America is advertising that this year they are displaying quality over quantity. No wonder why Danny the Dragon was invited! There are other upcoming book exhibits that will feature Danny the Dragon, such as Frankfurt International Book Fair, in the Children's Book Section, which will be held October 14 – 18, 2009. This is the largest book fair in the world. But Tina Turbin's books do not stop here! Tina Turbin has another book in the works. Children delighted by Danny's tales will soon be able to enjoy the sought-after Danny's cookbook! This cookbook will teach children to prepare nutritious meals simply and educationally through Danny's guidance, at a level a young child can understand and with lots of fun. Definitely another, much anticipated adventure! Videos are soon to be up too!
