Keeping Ahead Of Father Time

By: Gen Wright

We live in a youth orientated society and as it has developed it is only natural for us to strive to live longer healthier lives. Many people have an intense desire to stay as youthful as possible for as long as possible. As our knowledge increases so do the methods we can employ to help us fight the aging process.

As we grow older, we witness deterioration in the overall structure of our body and the way it looks and performs. These changes are directly connected to declining levels of human growth hormone (HGH). When the body is not able to produce growth hormone in sufficient quantity, it has adverse effects on it leading to a host of problems and the most noticeable being the change in appearance and loss of physical function.

Unwanted signs start to appear such as an increasing waistline, wrinkles, less energy, hair loss along with declining eyesight, hearing and loss of brain function. These and many other negative effects all contribute to a downward spiral of declining health and vitality.

But the very biggest change to your body as you get older is the loss of muscle mass. Starting in the mid 20's and continuing to decline at a rate of one half pound per year until age 50 then this rate doubles. That is unless you take steps to stop it.

You may have heard of hormone replacement therapy to correct these losses but proper exercise performed at the correct level of intensity (degree of difficulty) is a cheaper, natural way of doing the same thing. It is also way more effective with just 2-3 sessions each week is all it takes for a boost in the 'youth' hormones to hold off the aging process.

People who elevate their levels of HGH with strength building and maintaining exercise look like they have shed years away along with excess body fat. Lost muscle mass has been recovered strengthening not only muscles but bones and all the systems and processes of the human body including the immune system protecting you from disease.

Far and away, the most important thing you can do to offset the aging process is proper exercise. This is a program made up of mostly strength training exercise and is best set up and monitored by a fitness professional so the very best results are achieved. You do not have time to waste with ineffective activities such as walking that will not recover lost strength and vitality.

The good thing is you do not need to spend a lot of time doing it, however and short bouts of intense exercise are more effective than longer workouts as nothing even comes close to high-intensity training for keeping your body young
High-intensity training such as working your muscles with strength training can counteract aging when it forces your body out of its comfort zone and pushes it towards its physical limits. This creates a hormonal response to keep it going and it is this hormone response that is in direct opposition to the aging process.
As we age, our bodies produce fewer of the growth and repair hormones which lead to the inability to rejuvenate ourselves, until we eventually break down completely. Our strength training program counteracts this by forcing our bodies to produce more of the 'youth' hormones than would normally be produced.

And this is what keeps our muscles, bones, and organs and systems from deteriorating as fast as they naturally would. The result is that, with regular exercise that works the muscular system, the aging process slows down and youthfulness is maintained keeping us well ahead of Father Time.
