So you are new to the Internet and just started to try out things. Well, if it's not your first day online when you read this I'm sure you already came around the term "Social-Network". They're the hottest thing in the Internet and you'll find hardly an internet user without an account in at least one network. Social Networks are a great thing. They let people from all over the world to connect with each other through mailings, forums, chats, instant messages and more. And probably the most important part of social-networks is that they give you a personal profile that you can fully customize and use to present yourself to the worldwide internet community. So, if you really want to get started in the world wide web you need to create an account on some social network. But which one is the right network for me? Good question! The number of social networks in the world wide web has exploded in recent years and there are more than enough networks to choose from. The easiest is to simply perform a standard internet search. Type in social network and you will get a long list of networks you can check out. If you want to be more specific you can add a word to your search term that describes one of your interests like pets. Cars or sports. Type in "sports social network" and you will get a list of social networks for people who like sports. Another way of finding the right network is to ask around the people that you know like friends, family and co-workers. Ask them if they use some social network and what experiences they've had. Maybe someone can recommend a good network for you. You can also check some internet sites or blogs that review social-networks. You can do some research to find the network that best fits your needs. I think this is important if you are looking for a dating site. Most dating sites aren't free to use and require a monthly membership payment. It's certainly a good a idea to back-check those sites to make sure your money is invested well and you are joining a network of high-quality. If you don't bother much about the network you choose and simply want to get started in social networking I recommend to join one of the Big Five Networks, MySpace, Facebook, FriendFinder, Classmates and Orkut. These networks are huge and have several millions of members. You're not doing anything wrong joining these networks. However, at last it's your decision which network you choose. So make up your mind and do some research.
