How To Get The Most Out Of A Philippines Vacation

By: Chris Channing.

Southeast Asia is typically one of the most visited lands for western travelers, with the Philippines holding much of the credit for the tourism levels. The Philippines has some of the most beautiful scenery and the most entertaining environments in all of Southeast Asia, which makes it hard to single out attractions to do at any one point in time.

Diving is popular around the Philippines since there are many islands and underwater environments to explore. The waters of the Philippines have a unique color as well, which is perfect for seeing the many schools of fish and aquatic life sulking around the Philippine shores. Diving is usually an inexpensive attraction since it is one of the more popular things to do in the Philippines.

Enjoying the scenery of the Philippine means exploring both the waters and the lands- in specifics the cliffs that adorn the Philippine land. Rock climbers travel from many locations just to get a shot at climbing some of the trickiest cliffs in Asia. And of course, the view is quite breath taking- which makes the sport all the more worth while. Small children probably won't be able to come along, but adults are encouraged to participate.

A history lesson can be had while traveling abroad in the Philippines as well. Historic buildings such as the San Agustin Church, the University of Santo Tomas, and the Manila Cathedral are all worth a look if time is available. While it may not be fun for the younger kids who would rather be enjoying more exciting attractions, teens and adults will enjoy the beautiful scenery and history.

Food is a big attraction when visiting the Philippines for two reasons, First, the Philippines has a great selection of seafood and interesting combinations of spices and ingredients. Better yet is the fact that a meal in the Philippines is very inexpensive, yet the food portions are usually quite generous. The Philippines has some of the cheapest food in places such as Manila simply because there is so much to choose from, and because of the fact that western currency is often stronger than Philippine currency.

Of course there is always the mandatory visit to the beaches of the Philippines, which are among the world's most highly rated beaches due to their scenery and favorable swimming conditions. Beaches in the Philippines typically have the "postcard" look in which the landscape couldn't be more perfect- something that is most definitely a photograph opportunity.
