How Much are you Paying for Calls to Poland?

By: Andrew Regan

From hand cranked telephones to the touch tone versions and from mobile phones to computers, the world of telecommunications has come a long way since its first tentative steps in the late 1800s. Indeed, although it’s often taken for granted that people can simply dial a number and be connected to almost anyone, anywhere in the world, it wasn’t so long ago that this was merely a dream.

Not only was the technology not widely available for the general public to use, but the high costs associated with buying the necessary equipment, in addition to high call tariffs, meant it was almost impossible to afford to pay for a long distance telephone call. In fact, even local or national calls were hugely expensive.

However, as time progressed, the telecommunications companies increasingly offered consumers better deals and cheaper tariffs. The result was that many people bought, and used, a telephone. But, it was still extremely costly to make long distance phone calls.

One of the main reasons why costs have been lowered in recent times is due to the introduction of instant dial services. Basically providing people with a low-cost option for speaking to each other - irrespective of geographical boundaries - they have helped to advance the market for cheap phone calls.

It is now possible, through either a landline or a mobile phone, to make inexpensive calls from the UK to other countries, like Poland. All you have to do is search for the right access code – the internet is a great tool for doing this quickly – for the area you want to phone. Consequently, if you have Polish friends or relatives, for example, all you need to do is enter the country’s code, followed by the code for the specific town or city you want to reach, i.e. Gdansk or Krakow, and then the person’s phone number.

The result is that you can now easily speak to your loved ones for extended periods of time, without breaking the bank. What's more, you aren’t required to open an account with such companies, or sign any contracts - you keep your existing service provider and receive bills in the normal fashion.

The only difference is that instead of being charged the normal rates from your phone company, you will only be charged for its connection fee. The cost of your calls, although still on the same bill, will be based on the access code’s rates.

If you want to cheap call Poland, or anywhere else in the world, then it may be beneficial to consider the instant dial services that are available. In doing so, you’ll be able to easily stay in contact with your friends and relatives regardless of where they are.
