See if you can answer this question. When are your grandparents' birthdays? What did you do for them on their last few birthdays? Even sending grandma and grandpa a card would make their day. Just being acknowledged for their birthday is a big deal. And even a simple card would heart-felt. They just don't want to be forgotten. But why just send them a card? Why not send just a little more? Wouldn't it be great to see grandma's bright, big smile knowing that you made a big difference in her day? It doesn't have to be expensive, in fact, you can even give them a homemade gift. So what makes a great gift that grandma and grandpa will enjoy and that will show them you care? Delicious, homemade desserts are a perfect choice. Even if you do not consider yourself a good cook, you'd be surprised how easy it is to make some mouth-watering deluxe sweets. Chocolate covered apples and chocolate dipped strawberries are pretty easy to create and make fantastic gifts. They taste great and are ornamental in presentation. Other chocolate covered gifts that make fantastic gifts are chocolate dipped cherries, marshmallows, nuts and coffee beans. I don't know about your grandparents, but mine seem to love desserts with fruit. So other options for tasty, homemade sweets gifts are fruit pies. A classic are apple pies and come in many different variations. The traditional kind and others with brown sugar and cinnamon crumbs on top are also great. Add some caramel sauce and grandma's taste buds will be in heaven. Other great pie gifts are peach, cherry, lemon and don't forget the spectacular key lime. You can make any of these decadent gifts from scratch, but to make things easier you could either purchase pre-made crust shells, pie filling or both. If you don't live close to your grandpa and grandma than another good grandparents gift option are cookies. Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and pumpkin are great choices, but my favorite cookie gifts are sugar cookies. Sugar cookies can be made into many different shapes, colors and decorations to top the cookies. You can shape your cookies after something personal to them or to you. If he enjoys golf, make cookies shaped like golf balls or golf clubs. If you are a musician then send her cookies shaped like a piano or violin. Your grandparents will appreciate this personal touch more than anything else. Then pack them in wax paper inside a decorative tin box and ship priority mail on a Monday or a Tuesday. If you would rather send them a gift rather than making them yourself then visit some great online stores for some tasty options.
