Roses comes in so many different colors and species that it is too hard to pick the most beautiful. The rose is from the Rosaceae family, and most roses are from Asian descent. Roses symbolize many different emotions and can represent friendship, love, passion, beauty and sympathy, depending on the color. However, growing your own roses can be tricky. These tips below should help. 1. First of all, do some research into which roses grow best in your area. Some species grow better in certain climates than others. 2. Once your roses start to grow, tend to them according to their care instructions. You will need to cut them back once new growth is apparent. This is generally when the cold weather arrives or when spring is right around the corner. You should be able to see tiny buds beginning to form. 3. When pruning, cut broken or dead branches off. It is best to leave only four or five branches, and cut these back halfway. The cut should be made above a bud on the outside of the rosebush. 4. Water your roses according to their need. Pay particularly close attention to them in the growth season and fertilize your roses at that point. A liquid fertilizer should be used according to the directions. This is usually once a month. 5. If you notice any signs of pest infestation, act quickly. The sooner that it is taken care of, the better. It would be helpful to cut off the offending piece and spray your rose bush. Take this newly trimmed piece to your local gardener for identification of the problem and possible further treatment. 6. Put mulch underneath your rose bush, preferably a couple of inches, which will help keep the water in, but keep weeds out. 7. For healthier and more abundant bud growth, pluck off the dead ones. 8. If you live in frost area, try not to fertilize the rose bush for 1 month before the first frost. 9. Depending on your region and climate, you may have to take measures to protect your rose bush. Talk to your local nursery to see if you need to provide added protection for your roses. Growing roses need not be too difficult. The key is really knowing which type of rose bush you have, and gear your gardening efforts around their specific needs.
