Fitness Tips: The Fall season presents significant trials to your fitness targets.

By: Arbiep A

These fitness tips are to be pondered now considering most people struggle with their good health groove during the Fall. In the frigid environment the body is craving foods that help the body keep warm. In the warm climates many of those who are immigrates from the cold climate still will hunger for those foods.
There are more clan gatherings this time of year, which brings into play ethnic foods. Many of these cultural foods are fattening and unhealthy. Families in the south have food pushers and I am sure there are a few in other parts of the country. Food pushers are those like my mom who will have you feeling ashamed for not eating a lot of everything provided(cultural peer pressure).
If you are not cautious, you can easily consume four or five thousand calories in one meal. Remember, it only takes three thousand calories to pick up a pound of fat. You just can't work off that many calories in time. If you work at losing weight before these events, then gain it back, you expose yourself to many health concerns. Weight fluctuation can be as troubling as obesity.
On top of this there is after all another influence, the work place. This is also the season employers and workers are in a charitable mode. So there are many more food oriented events arising at the work place, most of which are of foods not contributing to a healthy life style.
Enough already, what is the resolution? Those of you who are in the cold climate I empathize with you. It is hard to stay warm. My fitness tips to you is to prepare those stews and broths with as little salt as possible. Make sure the skin is off the chicken and consume as little as possible. Those of you who are transplants into the warmer climates, I truly recommend you replace that cold climate diet with a lighter, healthier diet. hold off the cravings as much as possible.
Family events have a lot of caveats. One of which is the stacked plate syndrome, another is who consumes the most. If your family has this going on, then my fitness tips for you are: stack your plate but be prepared to take most of it home, do not glorify overeating. The women will usually display some constraint but the men are into the he-man thing of overeating. Men, your sons are watching you and will follow your lead. If you over eat, they will too. Be firm with food pushers. When you have had enough stand your ground or agree to take it for later.
Employers and workers, my fitness tips to you include cut out the sweets. This is one of those "If this is all you can do, it is better to do nothing." This economy may promote more pot luck events in the work place. If this occurs, you are dealing with the same circle as a family gathering. The stacked plate syndrome, food pushers and the who eats the most are all present at these events. The peer pressure may even be greater. Use good ingenuity and keep your goals in sight.
The bottom line is if you are strong enough to get through this season gaining less than five pounds, consider yourself blessed. Don't beat yourself up if you fail. Analyze the season and learn for next year. If you mess up get back on track as soon as possible. You may be surprised as to how fast you can get things back under control. Above all do not quit.
