From time to time, plants need essential nutrients in order to retain soil fertility and increase crop production. Talking about one such essential nutrient-fertilizer, also refer as plant growth regulators, is considered as one of the most important elements that add texture and nutrients to the soil. Depending upon the nature of the soil i.e. sandy, acidic, alkaline, etc different kinds of fertilizers are added to the soil. Different Types of Fertilizers Fertilizers are regarded as complex chemical compounds which are added to the soil by two methods-either directly by adding to the soil or in the liquidated form by applying on the leaves of the plants. These chemical compounds are further segregated into two categories- Organic and Inorganic. Organic fertilizers like manure, limestone, rock phosphate, worm castings, etc aid in improving structure of the soil by retaining soil moisture. Inorganic ones are obtained from chemical compounds like potassium chloride, ammonium nitrate, etc and encourage growth of leaves and stems. Fertilizers- source of major nutrients Although, each plant has different requirements, N-P-K combination in fertilizers are considered as most sought-after as phosphorus play integral role in root formation, water movement is regulated by potassium and nitrogen helps in overall growth and development of plant. Fertilizers act as plant growth regulators as nitrogen (N), potassium (K), phosphorus (P) are three major nutrients that are supplied by them to the soil. Talking about nitrogen fertilizers, animals and plants byproducts are considered as major sources of nitrogen based fertilizers. Nitrogen fertilizers are basically used in applying those fields which involve in the productions of soyabean, maize, barley, etc. Urea, oil cakes, fish manure, etc are considered as some of the examples of nitrogen fertilizers which are rich in nitrogen nutrient. It is worth to disclose that some nitrogen fertilizers contain certain percentage of potassium and phosphorus also. Plants, tress, etc will grow faster when they get essential nutrients in readily available forms and fertilizers play the same role by performing the role of active plant growth regulators. They provide nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to the soil which are required by the plants in larger quantities. Therefore, keep on adding required fertilizers to the plants in apt quantity in order to enhance their overall growth. For finding more information about fertilizers or nitrogen fertilizers, search over the internet.
