DIY Wind Power Generators

By: Bob Baumann

America can benefit greatly today from the widespread use of an affordable Wind Power Generator. We all understand the power of the wind. Pictures of the devastation brought to New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina come to mind. Huge waves whipped up on the ocean by the power of the wind do too. Closer to humanity, we think of those picturesque Dutch Windmills, that pushed back the sea to create miles and miles of fertile farmland. And everyone's imagination is stirred by those magnificent old sailing ships, thousands of tons in size, that carried our exploring ancestors to the far corners of the world.

But now we need the wind to do another, much more important task for us. We need it to power an affordable home Wind Power Generator to give us electricity for our everyday life. We are running out of fossil fuels and creating a greenhouse effect on the planet. We have dammed up virtually every river in the country that can produce hydroelectric power. And we have not yet learned how to use nuclear energy safely.
A household sized, affordable wind power generator is the answer. Wind Power Generators come in many designs and sizes. But in the past they have been impractical for household use because of their large size, high initial cost, and unsightly appearance that makes them most unwanted in the average neighborhood.

But things are changing rapidly. Wind Power Generator technology is moving forward by leaps and bounds. New designs and new materials have brought the cost down dramatically, and the efficiency up. As a result, it is now viable for the average homeowner to assemble a cost effective Wind Power Generator in a weekend for as little as $200.

Following well thought instructions, these new Wind Power Generators can produce enough energy to power the average household in winds averaging 9 miles per hour. When the wind blows harder than that, in many areas of the country you can sell the excess power back to your utility. And you can create some household power in light winds as low as 2 miles per hour.
It all is just that simple. As we install more and more Wind Power Generators, we will produce clean energy, lower our dependence on foreign energy sources, and reduce global warming.
And the wind will always be free.
