Cure yourself of anxiety with these self help techniques.

By: Thomas Bronson

Suffering from an anxiety disorder is no picnic and if you suffer from any type of anxiety disorder youll know this. Youll also know that the hardest step in curing your anxiety disorder is admitting it to yourself. Once youve managed this however, there are a number of options available for you to find a cure for your anxiety disorders. And until you do one of the best stop-gap methods to help you cope with your anxiety attacks is your own form of Anxiety Self Help.

Self help process is course of steps or exercises that you can perform that allow you to temporarily lessen the anxiety and panic attacks, majority of which represent activities that are carried out on a day-to-day basis. These self help techniques may encompass breathing techniques, relaxation, positive thinking, self esteem, sleep, hygiene, fitness, nutrition and so forth techniques which are relatively easy to follow and learn without much difficulties or financial outlays. At the same time that you apply these self help advices, you may seek advice from the health professional or psychologist and decide on the best course of treatment appropriate for you.

One of the best methods is to keep a list of phone numbers of supportive friends and family on hand so you can call them in case of an imminent attack. Since youve come this far in admitting your problem and seeking help for it theres a good chance that youll also have told some friends and family members so the phone list shouldnt really be too hard. Something to remember when you do call anyone is that its best to talk about something other than your incipient panic or anxiety attack. Also dont forget to ask the person beforehand whether they dont mind being placed on your emergency phone list. It always helps to give them a heads-up so they dont stumble onto any sensitive issues.

Another step in your anxiety self help routine is to learn some relaxation techniques. These can help you to de-stress yourself when you feel an attack coming on and can help you cope with your anxiety wonderfully easy when you learn how.

Deep breathing and meditation is, by far, another self help practice that is not only easily learnt but can also be applied anywhere and anytime should you anticipate an imminent attack. Whenever we feel anxious and tense, our breathing patterns tend to become rapid and shallow at the same time. The rationale behind proper breathing techniques is that deep and slow breathing pattern enhances calmness and soothes us at a physiological level. These practices are varied and can be followed according to the proper step-by-step approaches.

By understanding that there are more self help routines that are available and not limited to some of which Ive outlined above, you can better deal with your circumstance and manage your anxiety by exposing yourself to trying many other alternatives during your attack. I cannot stress enough that though they provide relief from your attack, ordinary efforts like these are not able to be effective in coping with anxiety or stress that have reached an overwhelming level. So, please reach out for your doctor or professional counselor to discuss and seek proper care and assistance.
