Self-Confidence is an emotional and psychological state of mind which responds to our need for self-acceptance and peer recognition. It's one among the oldest and most studied ideas in psychology. It is used to describe a positive albeit adequate perception of oneself and one's abilities. Hence, self-confident persons generally have a better idea of the things they can do and will be more likely to be successful in their projects. They are also more likely to admit and understand their mistakes. On the contrary, a lack of confidence can deter you from trusting that what you do and decide will finally work out as you had wanted. It can thus hamper the buildup of decision-making aptitudes, planning and management abilities all of which are necessary and sought-after skills in today's business world. The pre-occupation with other people's opinions of your work can also make you become excessively self-critical, which is something that will distract you from jobs you would have otherwise been totally able to perform. Low self confidence will also affect your social life, because people with a low level of self confidence are more likely to stay in their "comfort zone" and are scared of rejection. This is called social phobia and has a high level of co-morbidity with low self confidence, but also other psychological conditions such as depression. People with low self confidence are scared of being judged by their peers and will avoid meeting new people, which can in turn lead to isolation and even less self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that is hard to break. To the contrary, because they believe in their aptitudes, self-confident persons can do what they feel is right and do not expect the approval of others. They also trigger confidence: your friends, relatives, boss, employees or customers will be more likely to trust you or the things you are telling them when you appear self-confident. Numerous experiences can cause low self confidence. Recent research indicates that education has an important effect on the development of a child's self confidence. Corporal and mental abuses during childhood are for example the most damaging to somebody's self confidence, along with divorce or family conflicts. Overprotective parents may also be a reason for a child's social phobia and deter the independence necessary to build self confidence. Successes and failures, for example at school or in one's professional life, also play a significant role: losing a job or failing a class are some of the several experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence. There are nonetheless methods to overcome such bad experiences and develop confidence. The first thing to do in order to build self confidence would be to learn to know yourself and what your strengths are. Recognizing that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be good in all that you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting who you are is the key to gaining self confidence. But in order to improve your self confidence you also have to start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments. This is very basic advice which will help you develop self confidence. You may also find plenty of books which will tell you how to build self confidence, however many of them are not reliable. A great number of people have low self confidence or are only capable of gaining self confidence in one or a few areas of their lives because they always look for other people's approval and are scared that they could fail. Numerous factors, such as childhood traumas, can explain why certain people can't enjoy the wholesome life a self confident individual could have. These individuals also don't always know how to gain self confidence. However improving self confidence can now readily and effectively be achieved through NLP and hypnosis. As we have seen before social phobia and low self confidence can stem from traumas or unconscious fears which are sometimes hard to overcome with self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the other hand can reach the unconscious part of our mind and change belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you face your fears and trust yourself to develop self confidence. Self Confidence hypnosis has been used for a few decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. Once in a hypnotized state, accessing unconscious thoughts is much easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to boost self confidence.
