Isn’t it strange how snoring affects people around the snorer more than it does the snorer themselves? But of course the key thing about snoring is that it affects your partner. If you snore the chances are it doesn’t bother you unless you keep waking yourself up. But if your partner has ever looked tired and been short tempered first thing in the morning, you might want to ask yourself if your snoring is to blame. These are some of the main negative effects that snoring can have. Your relationship can certainly suffer if you don’t try and stop snoring in some way. For starters think about the quality of sleep you get. Your partner doesn’t sleep well because they are constantly kept awake by your snoring, and you don’t sleep well because they keep waking you up to stop you! So lack of sleep affects you both, and what’s more the snoring carries on if you don’t try and solve it. Needless to say this doesn’t do your relationship much good. We all need a good night’s sleep and while you might manage quite well your partner will be suffering as a result. This is why some couples end up in separate beds – because sleep overrules everything else. It can also be embarrassing if you are particularly loud and other people living with you can hear you too. Just imagine the effects this could have if you go on holiday! You might not be embarrassed but your partner certainly will be. It’s quite amazing how problematic snoring can be – particularly over the long term. The odd disturbed night may not be too bad, but when it occurs every night it’s no wonder some couples really struggle to find a solution that doesn’t involve separate beds. It goes without saying then that if you or your partner snores, the sooner you find a solution to it, the better you will both sleep. And if disturbed nights have become a part of your life, you might want to look at some possible solutions as quickly as possible. Wouldn’t it be better to have a stronger relationship that isn’t jeopardised by snoring?
