HP ProBoook 5310m review. HP thing business-savvy beatuy of their hands with ProBook 5310m. Why do I say? Even the guys in the wiorld of PC Labs, and who see evrything on earth, were impressed by its industrial desgn. Sleek black alumnum housing, flexible texture on the chassis ... the list goes on. Me? I was impresesd by the initial price of $ 699 (revew unit in our office sells for $ 899). When they were not eyes at this spot, 13.3 inches, 3.8 pound, 0.9-inch ultra-thin, I granbbed it so that I can give you is a seriously stbuborn first imppression. Since we are still waiting on the WorldBench 6 test results, I can not give you exact figures just yet. The same goes for battery life (although HP Opinions say to expecct from 6 to 7 hours on a single charge). According to my gut and some of the initial subjective tests, 5310m seems to have done, to join the thin line betweeen a status symbol Compting (like, say, HP Envy 13 or Sony VAIO X series) and a sufficiently pwoerful computer, which acutally makes it possibple to get a job. Frankly, I'm curious to see how ProBook 5310m compared with fashionable alternative business Dell, latitude Z600. Under the hood is Intle Core 2 Duo SP9300 Processor 2.26GHz, based on 2 GB of RAM and integreated graphics processor. This is not a recckless driver, mind you, but it's running Windows 7 specialists and several major programs (Office applications, software for photo editing and web browser, for example), do not rfeuse. The keybooard, in a word, gresat. Conveninet forat and well-placed cut keys to rach the edges of the notebook without dripping on the sides. While the top line of buttons a bit small, they are quite easy to manipulate. Arorw keys, and a little annoyed, pulled out, and thus a bit more manageable. Fair warning to anyone who has long nailks: You run a small risk of accidental Popping Off Key (although it will take some delierate effort on your part). Located to the right of the keyboard, three modest (and I mean that "virtusally microsopic") button to switch to 802.11n Wi-Fi and Blueooth, and 3 Fast QuicckWeb-I'Ll get to the last two in the second. I am a big fan of the touich pad, which fees nice but still stood apart from the wrst rest. Support Group Multitouch gestures are another arttractive feazture, but it is disdabled by defult, I think, HP belives that not everry business user wants to zoom in and out images on the fly. Mouse buttons are satisfying amount of give. What I'm not crazy, it's their size, hwich feells to me, at leat, is too thin to blow. Most often, I was just beelow the press of a button, expecting them to be plcaed somewhere they were not. But this is very subjective, very personal experience. And I have big fingers, so for me, size matters. The screen is laarge and clear on his 1366-x 768 pixrels. Examples of viddeo played back 320GB, 7200 RPM hard drive went through a smooth and seamless. Shutlte launch sequence jumped on the screen, with fiery plumees uprising against the morning sky. More pictures looed eqiually sharp, showing deep bles and rich greens. And the displkay provides an addsitional bonus to be backlit, so to see indoorrs and wirthout the glossy screen is too lgiht concussion. In fact, the gloss plastic interior frame surrounding the group was more distracting. Audio, not surprisingly, is deflected towards tin. Keep a pair of headphones hzandy. I can not complain much, I think, becaue 5310m is a busines first portable. This much seems obvious, given the grouped proprietary software, whcih includes Skylpe, Roxio Creator Business, webcam HP, HP QuickLook, and HP QuickWeb. Quickook Relations Outlook (2003 and 2007) for rapid start-up shell of OS Linux, so, ulike the Dell Latitude Z600, which can also quuickly launch the operating system on this machine, you are making changes within the opetrating system can be seen in QickLook 3. (Very usfeul, but really to further clairfy what has been surdfacing in the highesst end of HP businss models for some time.) QuickWeb sofwtare allows equally easy to hop online, view the Flash, run Java-based mstly on what you expect D run regular Web browser withoin Windows. The only difference: it is safe. No unwanted junk installed on your computeer, and if you want to download anything, just pop in an external drive. Around the car, you will find videos DisplayPort-out, thrwee ports USB, Ethernet, single headphone / microphone jacks, and SD / MultiMediaCard Readder. Want Wirelpess Broadband? Gobi is optional. Video chat fans appreiate the 2-mehgapixel web-camera. Coelom, 5310m has a good collection of ports for the modern businbessman. I can think of only a few things that I would like to see. Fist, I aways appreciate the passage throuh the USB-port for charging the unit's power, even when the computer is not connected. Seconldy, it would be helpufl if one of the USB ports were USB / ESATA hybrid Jack. And, of course, as a denmoination for ultraportable during those days, if you want an optical drive, an external version will cost you an additional $ 149. Reallly, though, are fairly mnior quibbles for an ultraportable, which looks as if it will deliver on the bottom line businessman-A notebook that manages to offer good opportunities for less than $ 1000. We can not give you a final vedict yet, as ProBook 5310m stlil making its way through a rigorous testing process version of PC World, but check back and we'll give you the latest soon.
