A Guide to the Delicacies of Wales

By: Ben Binding-27115

When you find yourself in Wales, whether it's for business or pleasure, you really must sample the local food that is offered there. Wales has a reputation for high-quality food that's very good and also very distinctive. If you're looking for the same old food that you've had everywhere else, you probably won't find it in Wales. What you will find, though, is rich flavours and dishes that seem exotic by the standards of many other areas in the UK. There is so much available in the Wales area, and the freshness of the produce and other offerings there come from the landscape and the desire and ability of the people who grow things there. Cheese is popular fare there, and so is meat. Beef and lamb fight for the top spot on the plates of the locals, and most people who visit the area also try both to see which one they like better – and quite often they can't decide. There are a lot of markets in Wales and the items that can be bought from them are, often, much better than what can be picked up in the supermarkets when it comes to freshness, price, and quality, so they remain popular places for both locals and tourists.

You'll need something to drink with all of that food, and water is the popular choice. It is very clean there, and the distillery that makes it has been doing so for a very long time. For people who want something a little stronger, there are a lot of breweries available where high-quality beers can be acquired. Food festivals are popular, too, and many of them are held throughout the year. A lot of people enjoy them, as well as having dinners that are hosted in people's homes where neighbours and others can get to know one another. You don't have to live there for that to happen, either, as tourists can get caught up in that, too.

If you're visiting, another thing you might want to check out are the eco/organic hotels, because they are designed with earth conscious, natural food people in mind. These, along with the gastro pubs, and inns, Wales holiday cottage and B&B’s give tourists the option to stay in a great place while sampling a lot of the wonderful food that Wales has to offer. It's a great opportunity for people from other areas of the UK to try something a little different while not travelling too far from home.
