Finally we are at the end of this series of articles on ten ways to lose at poker. We have certainly covered a wide range of topics including psychology, particle physics and acting. We have even looked at specific strategies and approaches to the game, including when to walk away from it. No doubt you are waiting with baited breath for the forthcoming revelation regarding the tenth way to lose and here it is. The tenth way to lose at poker is to stop studying the game and the people who play it. It is impossible to know all there is to know about the game. It is a game of endless variation and no two games are ever the same. Similarly no two players are the same, or even the same players are not necessarily the same on different days. There are many ways in which the game can be studied, for instance there is a huge amount of material on the web; a great many books have been written on the subject; there is an abundance of poker playing software that you can use to hone your game play; and you should never stop observing how other people play the game. However, the way that we recommend, and the way that can pay dividends very quickly, is to analyse in depth games that you have already played. We are not suggesting that you remember the fine detail of every game that you play, but you will know the important ones and you should try to remember those. Sometimes if you have been playing with a friend it might be possible to carry out a detailed analysis between you so that you can both learn from your mistakes and your good plays. Only by analysing how you have played in the past can you learn how to play better in the future. The tenth way to lose at poker is to stop studying the game.
